What is vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty is a medical procedure designed to help tighten a loose vagina. This condition often arises following vaginal childbirth or as a result of aging.
After childbirth, vaginal muscles stretch and may not return to their original state. Vaginoplasty is believed to help improve sexual satisfaction by restoring vaginal tightness.
The procedure involves surgically repairing or altering the shape and function of the vagina to make it tighter. Vaginoplasty is performed for both reconstructive and cosmetic purposes.
Vaginoplasty may also be indicated when there are specific issues involving the intimate area, such as:
Trauma or injury requiring repair of the vaginal structure
Repair of vaginal muscles following vaginal delivery
Congenital abnormalities present from birth that affect vaginal development

Vaginoplasty Surgical Procedure
Before undergoing vaginoplasty, every patient is required to complete a series of medical examinations recommended by the doctor to assess their overall health. Additionally, patients need to fully understand the benefits, risks, and requirements associated with the procedure beforehand.
The following outlines the common vaginoplasty procedure used to tighten the vagina:
- Administration of sedation anesthesia by an anesthesiologist
- Marking or making incisions on the skin according to the desired outcome
- Tightening of the vaginal tissue
- Suturing of the mucosal tissue after the area is neatly closed
Why Choose Princessa Clinic?
What to Know After Vaginoplasty Surgery
Following vaginoplasty, patients are required to rest completely or avoid strenuous activity—at least until bleeding stops, a process that typically takes anywhere from a few days to two weeks.
Patients are also prohibited from engaging in sexual intercourse for the subsequent two to three months to prevent interfering with the wound-healing process. Additionally, patients are advised to stop smoking to reduce the risk of complications.
Recovery times vary among patients, depending on factors such as age and overall health. Older patients generally experience a longer healing process, particularly if they have underlying medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, vascular disorders, or hypertension.
Therefore, patients are encouraged to consult with their doctor and strictly follow medical advice during the recovery period to minimize the risk of long-term complications.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF VAGINOPLASTY SURGERY?
Any surgical procedure carries the risk of potential side effects or complications, including vaginoplasty. Some risks patients may experience during or after vaginoplasty include:
- Infection
- Bleeding
- Swelling
- Reduced labial sensitivity
- Scar tissue formation
- Pain during urination or bowel movements
- Pain during sexual intercourse
Long-term complications—such as persistent pain, damage to the tissue surrounding the vagina, and narrowing of the vaginal canal—may also occur following vaginoplasty, although they are rare. If complications persist, the patient may require additional surgery.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT MEDICAL CARE
Before deciding to undergo vaginoplasty, it is highly recommended to select the right clinic and plastic surgeon to ensure optimal results and safety.
